Still, Hyundai brings its best efforts forward to deliver performance and capability that stands up against the competition. The sole powertrain consists of a beefy 3.8L V-6 engine that pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission for optimum performance. With 291 horsepower and the ability to tow 5,000 lbs when properly equipped, there's very little that Hyundai's offering can't let you accomplish. Despite its size, the Palisade achieves a city MPG of 19, increasing to 26 in highway driving.Â
Interior and Amenities
As one might have come to expect from an SUV, there's plenty of storage to be had, and optional captain's chairs for the second row means that seating for either seven or eight passengers is at your disposal. An available 86 cubic feet of storage capacity makes hauling easier than ever. We were most impressed by the vehicle's tow-toned color scheme that elevates the luxurious feel of the Palisade to new heights, which is something you don't see with either Ford or Chevy.Â
Safety
Always known for providing drivers with a safe and reliable driving experience, Hyundai has gone above and beyond to make it more standard across all trim levels. While the usual items include automated emergency braking and pedestrian detection, Hyundai also sweetens the deal with adaptive cruise control and a semi-autonomous driving mode. This is far ahead of the completion, who are still obscuring these features behind high-priced trims.Â
